Performing at the Open Stage @ MISI
So Friday evening I had the honour of being able to perform my first solo performance in a while, and also debut an original of mine, at the Open Stage @ MISI.
I’m very grateful for this platform to exist because it’s perfect for artists to create and try new things, and be able to showcase them, without having to worry about rental fees and rehearsal spaces. I strongly encourage anyone who wants to try something new artistically, to sign up for a performance slot, because you’ll get a nice intimate audience, PLUS a whole month of rehearsal space slots available for you to book for absolutely free! This wonderful opportunity is all thanks to Kai, a lovely lady who is truly dedicated to the arts. Can’t thank her enough, and I can only wish there were more people like her around :’)
Another thing I’m very grateful for are the audience members, some of whom really did come up to me after the performance and give me feedback on what they liked, etc. So happy for these people to bother to reach out to me with their feedback. I now have good material to work with when working towards any future performances that may happen. And am also pleased that I seem to be going in a good direction with my songwriting! (Whew)
Aside from my set, the other performances this time round were a musical sketch from SoDa Players, a unique wrestling/dance performance piece by Jiexiao and Jereh, a dance choreography by Tang Sook Kuan and friends which we watched on video, and an entertaining solo sketch by Kai Seng. More information on them (and their upcoming performances!) can be found on the MISI page as well.
Here are some photos from my performance, used with permission from MISI.
I also have video footage of my performance, and am still thinking about uploading it 😀 Meanwhile, hope you enjoy these photos! And do turn up to watch – or participate in – next month’s showcase!
