Interviews in Sweden
The title doesn’t refer to my interviews, of course. It refers to other, actually famous people’s. //full disclosure
I’m in the middle of reading a world exclusive interview of Max Martin, the Swedish #1 hit songwriter who has basically written every song you remember (Baby One More Time, Blank Space, Can’t Feel My Face etc etc etc etc). One very striking thing about him is how he never wants to give interviews.
In this interview, the writer includes this paragraph:
[…] it took a long time before Max Martin received any kind of recognition in Sweden. Many parallels can be made to ABBA. During the band’s active years, ABBA was dismissed for simply fabricating pop music hits. Media focused on how much money they were making, instead of on the music and the meticulous work behind it.
This reminded me of an interview I’d watched of PewDiePie, who went on a Swedish talk show two years ago. One of the striking things about that interview was how the host asked him how much he was making from Youtube monetization, and he was very uncomfortable. (The other thing was the host practically forcing him to apologize for using swear words in his videos.)
Anyway, just an interesting observation I wanted to document. You can watch the interview in question below.
